Where's hot for 2018

Chestnut by Robbie Krawcyzk

During his time in Tankardstown House, in charge of Brabazon restaurant we got to eat Rob's food on several occasions, and trips to Tankardstown were always a highlight of the culinary year. In the first half of this year Rob will open his own reatutant in Ballydehob, called Chrestnut, where he will cook on open coals and have a changing menu that will offer a fixed selection each day. One to beat a path to.

Kelly and Coopers Blackrock

You won't have to wait long for this one, as it opens next week, all going well. From the people who brought us Ouzos and the Fishshack, Kelly and Coopers is a local pub with a great kitchen, serving seafood, meats and bites all day and into the evening. They are on the site of the old Ouzos in Blackrock, and should be a welcome addition to the village. Check out for more info.

Overends at Airfield

I often find myself in Overends in Airfield. This working farm in Dundrum is just up the road from my house, and breakfast in their lovely bright room looking out on the pond is always a pleasure. Chef Luke Mathhews teamed up with Robin Gill of the Dairy in Clapham over the summer, and there are plans for a proper evening restaurant later in the year. Keep and eye out on or make it your breakfast spot and never miss out.
