Brunch Cafe is a fresh and breezy place, fairly spacious and decorated with French, muted tones. This is a cafe that serves the public daily, opening seven days a week and offering a broad menu from breakfast (open from 7.30am) with healthy fillers like porridgemade the way you want it, omelettes, pancakes, the full Irish and a tempting eggs benedict.
Lunch serves a working and studying clientele, with incredible value and no-nonsense dishes like fish and chips, pork chops and gravy and lasagne. Brunch will certainly hit the hunger spot, with all the classics.
Food is simply prepared and served in decent portions; chips are real, crispy and delicious. It’s ditto for the mashed potatoes - no fluffy purees here. The lasagne is one of the best sampled by my young co-reviewer, while the pork chop is piggy perfect.
Salads of warm Cajun chicken, prawn and salmon and a Caesar show an edge of health consciousness for those days when you don't fancy a big feed. The retro mix grill has all the classics, plus a pork chop, something you rarely see on a menu, much missed and welcome.
Wraps, paninis, pastas, a good burger, scampi and home- made fish cakes. Traditional soda bread is the base for open prawn and salmon sandwiches.
The kitchens busy and diners are happy, enjoying breakfast in the afternoon and feeding hungry, happy kids. Everything about Brunch is generous –both the service and the food - but it’s the prices that make it so and a pleasure to splash out on some really good grub.
