Review
Set in the beautiful award-winning village of Birdhill, Co. Tipperary, Matt the Thresher has been providing award-winning food under the family-run team of Ted & Kay Moynihan since 1987.
Just 20 minutes from Limerick City, it's the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat or to grab an arabica bean coffee on the M7 - we're located just 2 minutes off exit 27.
All the food is sourced from quality assured Irish farms and all fish comes fresh from West Cork. Matt The Thresher only use 100% prime Irish beef, which has been specially selected and is locally supplied. It's dry aged and hung in our own coldroom for 28 days for enhanced flavour.
The emphasis here is on home cooked food - in addition to the steaks and seafood there is always a selection of fresh, home made pies, including an exceedingly ood staek and kidney.
The fresh fish comes up daily from Cork, and there are always a selection of specials on the board, but this is the heart of the Golden Vale, and the meats really are very good indeed.
Voted Best Gastro Pub 2010, there's always a reason to stop at Matt the Thresher. Open every day of the week. so next time you're on the M7 traveling to Kerry, Limerick or Dublin, make sure you drop by.
